WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Rain has shortened the MIAA Postseason Baseball Tournament to a single-elimination event.

Top-seeded Central Missouri State and No. 3 Emporia State collide at 3 p.m. today for the tournament championship at CMSU's Crane Stadium.

First-round games Friday saw the Mules nip Missouri Western 4-3 on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Hornets knock off second-seeded Northwest Missouri State 9-3.

Northwest Missouri beat Missouri Western 4-1 Friday night in an elimination game shortened to five innings by rain.

Heavy rain Friday night and Saturday morning wiped out Saturday's slate. Because the NCAA Tournament field will be announced Monday, the conference meet must end today, resulting in the one-game final.

It's the second straight year rain has altered the postseason tournament. Last year the tournament was rained out after four games, and the Mules, the last unbeaten team, were declared the winner.
