Seneca won the first eight matches en route to a 51-21 victory over Joplin on Thursday night in a prep dual wrestling meet at Kaminsky Gymnasium.

The Indians’ early spree included pins by Timothy Harnar at 112 pounds, Josh Mullin at 135, Dillan Webb at 140 and David Diaz at 145. In addition, Seneca won on major decions by Blake Byrne (103), Andy Wasson (119) and Nathan Fortner (130), and Colbey Skaggs won by forfeit at 125.

“Seneca is really good in the lower weights,” Joplin coach Shawn Finch said.

Joplin heavyweight Tyler Morris won a 5-0 decision. The Eagles, 10-4 in duals, scored their other points on forfeits to Josh Hutching (152), Brian White (160) and Miles Copple (171).

Sweep for Monett

MONETT, Mo. — The Cubs, improving to 4-0 in duals, beat Carl Junction 62-15 and Nixa 66-16.

Nixa clipped Carl Junction 45-30 in the other dual.

Three Monett grapplers remained unbeaten — Ethan Davis at 135 pounds, Kellen Bounous at 145 and Kyle Meyer at 152.

Most area teams will compete in the Branson Tournament starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
